A Favorable Media Law
Since 2008, when the Kurdistan Regional Government passed a liberal law concerning the media in the region, a large number of media outlets have been established. The two major Kurdish political parties, the Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), both have their own newspapers, radios and TV stations. Despite the fact that the Internet users in the Kurdistan Region have significantly increased in the last decade, especially among young people, television is the medium that remains the main source of information and entertainment in Kurdistan.
