Located 4km off the coastline of Dubai in the UAE, artificial archipelago The World was unveiled to much aplomb on the world stage in May 2003, with construction starting later that year.

Dubai-based developer Kleindienst Group is developing six of the 300 islets that make up the project, its development coming in the form of The Heart of Europe.

In this episode of Construction Week In Focus, Jack Ball, senior reporter at Construction Week, outlines his site visit to the iconic project – made up of Germany, the Floating Venice, Sweden, Switzerland, St Petursburg, and Main Europe – earlier this year.
